Frank A. Bezdicek (MN ’67), is a 1966 graduate of Jackson High School, a 1970 graduate from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education, and a 1992 graduate from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a Master of Business Communication degree.
After teaching Vocational Agriculture in Rochester and Stewartville, Minnesota, he joined Land O’Lakes, Inc. in 1974 as an agronomy sales representative. He was later named Director of Member Services and relocated to the corporate headquarters. In 1984 Bezdicek became responsible for the marketing communications activities for the Land O’Lakes Animal Milk Products Company and Feed Division. In 2004, after over 30 years of service with Land O’Lakes, Inc., Bezdicek retired from Land O’Lakes and started his own marketing communications consulting firm, The Other Right Answer, LLC.
Initiated into the Minnesota Chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity in 1967, Bezdicek was an active member from 1967-1970 while attending the University of Minnesota. He later served as adult chapter advisor from 1994-1997 and 2015 to the present. He was awarded the FarmHouse Fraternity Builder of Men Award in 1994. In 2001 he was elected to the Minnesota FarmHouse Association Board of Directors and later served as President. In 2013 he was named Executive Director of Fundraising for the Minnesota FarmHouse Fraternity Building Campaign. He served on numerous other Building Project Committees including the Building the Future Task Force, Design Committee and Construction Committee.
As a University of Minnesota alumnus, Bezdicek serves on numerous committees for the University of Minnesota including being Chairman of the Norman Borlaug Science Achievement Award Committee. Bezdicek endowed a University of Minnesota Scholarship for the College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences.
Frank served in numerous professional organizations on a local and national basis. He held local and national positions in the National Agri-Marketing Association. He served on the school board in Stewartville, Minnesota, for two terms, holding the position of Chairman-of-the-Board, and Clerk. He also served on the Mounds View School district Advisory board for several years.
Bezdicek is active at the Cathedral of Saint Paul parish in St. Paul, Minnesota where he serves as a Lector and Extraordinary Minister. Frank contributes time, talent, and treasure to the pro-life movement. Bezdicek served in the Minnesota National Guard 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery B Battery and the U.S. Army Reserve Military Police.
He received his private pilot’s license shortly after college graduation. For years he raced sailboats on Minnesota lakes. Bezdicek enjoys traveling domestically and internationally. He has sailed on a five-mast square-rigger on the Mediterranean and enjoyed mountain hiking in Switzerland and European rail travel. Frank authored a book, As I Saw Things, about his experiences growing up on the family farm. Besides his love for FarmHouse Fraternity and the University of Minnesota, his greatest love is riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle any chance he gets.
